The Fall of Mexica is a top-down adventure game featuring a historically-accurate recreation of 16th century Mexico, taking place during the Spanish invasion of the country. Explore a portion of the capital city of Tenochtitlan as a Nahual citizen, and help prepare the welcoming ceremony for the incoming Spanish villagers. The Fall of Mexica is intended to be a small chapter part of a larger-sized game, depicting the entirety of the Spanish invasion of Mexico.
This is a selection of the UI systems that I developed for The Fall of Mexica, designed in Photoshop and programmed in C#. I designed a minimap system to accurately display the position of players in the game world as they navigate the city of Tenochtitlan.
MINIMAP SYSTEM
A minimap UI indicating to players where they currently are in Tenochtitlan. Icons indicate important elements/locations to the map, such as Interactive NPCs and Objective icons. Pressing the F key expands the minimap to full screen, where players can view the entire section of Tenochtitlan which they can explore. A legend containing all of the icons used on the minimap with labels indicating the meaning of each symbol is also included. Pressing the F key again closes out of the full-size map, and returns back to the normal minimap size.
MINIMAP ICONS
All of the minimap icons used for the map system, including the minimap and full-size map.
